About James!
My name is James (or Jim) Geaney. I am a 57 year old Secondary School Teacher as well as a musician and singer. I am lucky to have gained over 30 years experience of performing at wedding ceremonies. I am an accredited Celebrant, and in my personal life I have had first hand experience of navigating the complicated journey of getting married in a secular ceremony here in Ireland.
My main teaching subject is Religious Education.
I received a First Class Honours degree in University College Cork in Religions and Global Diversity which, unlike my schooldays in a Christian Brothers school, involves the study of many religions as well as non-religious cultures, and their interaction with the modern world.
These days, when teaching Religious Education, even within the ethos of a Catholic school, great care is taken not to force religious belief on anyone, but to ensure we are helping young adults find their moral compass, but also to gain an insight into the diversity of culture and religious beliefs which hopefully allows them to gain respect and tolerance for the multicultural world in which we live.
This education and experience have provided me with a wonderful insight into ceremonies and rituals, allowing me to bring a wide variety of influences (both secular and religious) to the crafting of a personalised and unique ceremony for your special day.
Of course, this does not mean that your wedding ceremony has to be based on any religious belief - secular ceremonies are becoming more and more popular. My only wish for you is to have a wedding ceremony that reflects your personality and that it will be an occasion that you will remember fondly for many years to come. I hope that my experiences can help you achieve just that.
Renewal of vows has also become very popular…
It allows a couple not only to reaffirm their love for each other but to include family and friends who were not there to witness their original special day!

Chomh maith le mo thaithí i searmanais agus sa cheol, is Gaelgóir bródúil mé, agus mar sin is féidir liom searmanais a thairiscint le beagánín den Ghaelinn chaitear isteach, más rud é go dtaitníonn sé sin leat!
In addition to my experiences in Ceremonies and music, I am a proud Irish language speaker, and so I can offer ceremonies with a little bit of the Gaeilge thrown in, if that is something that appeals to you!
